WEtech Alliance is pleased to welcome the newest member of our team, Events Coordinator, Lauryn Bodde!
Lauryn Bodde has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Windsor with a specialization in marketing. Her entrepreneurial spark began in a grade 12 high school level Intro to Entrepreneurship class. After her undergrad, she worked for 3 years as an Account Executive for an event marketing agency out of Madison Heights, Michigan. Her most recent adventure was a 3-year work/travel adventure to beautiful Ireland where she worked various jobs including running a small business in a West Coast town called ‘Westport char {CUTE} rie’. Lauryn also has a diploma in Graphic Design from IBAT College in Dublin, Ireland.
We sat down with Lauryn for a rapid-fire Q&A to get to know her better.
Q: Describe yourself in five words.
A: Adventure | Laugh | Yoga | Poetry | Good Food
Q: Are you more of a hunter or a gatherer?
A: Absolutely a gatherer – like working in a team to make stuff happen.
Q: What would the title of your autobiography be called?
A: Boddeontheroady
Q: If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?
A: A giraffe – because of their view from up there!
Q: What’s your favourite ’90s jam?
A: Ironic – Alanis Morissette
Q: What would your pet say about you if we asked for a reference?
A: Man, she sings a lot around the house !
Q: You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
A: A dozen shades of green in one crayon – so I could draw the fields of Ireland.
Q: What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?
A: Shark and horse meat in Iceland – was definitely an experience.
Q: What do you work toward in your free time?
A: I love to write in my free time. Set up outside in a nice spot (ideally in front of the water), with a notebook and I am all set. In my free time, I also work to completely shut off and unplug. (Something to definitely work at).
Q: What were you like in high school?
A: Athletic – fell in love with travel – artsy
Q: Favourite superhero?
A: Iron Man for sure !
Q: What Friends character do you most identify with?
A: A mixture between Monica & Joey – a creepily organized person with a big heart
Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
A: I am most proud of my solo travel adventures. I’ve had incredible experiences venturing out and exploring on my own. Taking a risk and not planning, which was completely out of my comfort zone.
Q: Who would play you in a movie?
A: I would love to play the role of an artist/singer in a movie – or maybe a poet ?
Q: What is your best feature?
A: Keeping an open mind – (If you do, I promise nothing will fall out).
Q: Have you ever tried to do something and you knew that you were going to be really bad at it, but you did it anyway?
A: I was in charge of a mobile event activation in downtown New York. I planned logistics to get a 40 foot RV bus downtown New York for multiple activations. The bus had an 8″ clearance to the ground and we had to get permits, parking spaces blocked and NYPD approvals. This was a huge challenge, and I was so glad the team I worked with pulled it off.
Q: You’re on death row. What’s your last meal?
A: Perogies and schnitzel for sure! (with onions, bacon and sour cream).
Q: What is one thing you’re most excited for in joining the WEtech Alliance team?
A: I am super excited to work within the team and work on creative and fun projects and create awesome experiences as we go! Very excited to learn from the team and from other people with that entrepreneurial spirit!
