Over her career, she has become well versed in working with small businesses and enjoys helping owners identify existing business challenges, and better prepare for future growth.
We sat down with Susana for a rapid-fire Q&A to get to know her better.
Q: Describe yourself in five words.
A: Kind, curious, helpful, insightful, detailed.
Q: Are you more of a hunter or a gatherer?
A: Depending on the situation, I can be either.
Q: What would the title of your autobiography be called?
A: Always Ready to Learn.
Q: If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?
A: A dog, in a multi-dog home where there’s a pool and lots of fun stuff to do. Dogs can have the most splendid lives when matched with people that really appreciate the canine-human connection.
Q: What’s your favourite ’90s jam?
A: Really difficult to pick just one, as I have very eclectic taste in music. A really good 90’s jam is The Tragically Hip “Fifty-Mission Cap”, but there were a few other jams from Metallica and Beastie Boys that came in close seconds.
Q: What would your pet say about you if we asked for a reference?
A: They would say that I am a little stingy with their treats, but it’s all part of their strategy to get more food. I spend a lot of time with our dogs, and we do a lot of fun stuff including different types of training classes, and swimming in the summer.
Q: You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
A: Lilac, as I am usually the person that likes to keep things calm and make sure things are flowing well.
Q: What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?
A: This is probably not all that strange, but here does anyway. A dessert that was made by cooking sealed cans of condensed milk in a pressure cooker. No, I didn’t make this myself. And yes, it was delicious.
Q: What do you work toward in your free time?
A: Reading interesting articles about canine health, training with the dogs, days trips around Windsor Essex, supporting local businesses.
Q: What were you like in high school?
A: LOVED math and music, and quite shy.
Q: Favourite superhero?
A: I don’t think I have one?
Q: What Friends character do you most identify with?
A: Phoebe
Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
A: It’s a tie between titling a dog in multiple dog sports, and earning my P. Eng and CPA, CMA designations.
Q: Who would play you in a movie?
A: Any actor that would portray a caring, fair-minded, upbeat person.
Q: What is your best feature?
A: I’m a kind person, and genuinely care about people.
Q: Have you ever tried to do something and you knew that you were going to be really bad at it, but you did it anyway?
A: Yes, golfing.
Q: You’re on death row. What’s your last meal?
A: Shrimp cocktail, scalloped potatoes, salmon, bread pudding.
Q: What is one thing you’re most excited for in joining the WEtech Alliance team?
A: To be part of a team comprised of caring individuals that want to make a difference in the lives of tech and innovation-based business owners in the Windsor- Essex and Chatham-Kent communities.
