The Canadian Undergraduate Computer Science Conference (CUCSC) lands at the University of Windsor for the first time.
The Canadian Undergraduate Computer Science Conference is an annual, bilingual gathering of undergraduate students in computer science and affiliated multidisciplinary fields. The three-day conference welcomes students, professionals and industry from all disciplines and sectors across the Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent region to register and join leading computer science students and professionals from across Canada, who will share their research, take in workshops, panels and networking events.
Connecting students and industry is one of the key aims of the conference.
“The goal is to offer the kind of hands on experiences students are looking for.” says conference Vice Chair Aislyn Laurent. “This event encourages active participation and collaboration – companies will be sending teams with the intention of connecting with undergraduates.”
The conference organizers are also keen on changing perceptions of the Windsor-Essex region for young tech talent looking for places to start their careers.
“By bringing together industry and students from across Canada, we’re offering the perfect opportunity to showcase Southwestern Ontario as the place to connect with talent, and also the place for talent to start their careers and build their lives.” says conference Chair Noah Campbell
Industry on Campus: Working in Windsor-Detroit Region’s Tech Sector
One of the many highlights will be a panel – Industry on Campus: Working in Windsor-Detroit Regions Tech powered by WEtech Alliance – on July 26, followed by an outdoor BBQ networking event.
The panel will be led by industry innovators and tech companies from both sides of the border including Google, Green Shield Canada, Quicken Loans and Red Piston.
“If I was a student looking to work in the tech space or get a foot in the door with a co-op placement, I would be at this conference,” says Yvonne Pilon, President and CEO of WEtech Alliance. “I would also want to be at this conference if I was a tech employer looking to connect with talent or a professional wanting to know where the tech space is evolving.”
Are you a post-secondary student looking for a co-op/internship or new grad experiences? Are you an employer looking to connect with tech talent? Come network and learn from a group of professionals working in Windsor + Detroit tech as they share stories from their career journey and tips for landing your dream job.
