LADIES LEARNING CODE: HTML & CSS for Beginners (Chatham)

If you are looking to get your feet wet when it comes to programming, then this is the workshop for you. HTML and CSS are the backbone of all websites, and knowledge of them is a necessity if you are interested in things like web development, creating marketing emails, or even blogging! The web without HTML and CSS would be would be a world without colourful, pretty websites, not to mention the web applications we all use daily. It’s easy to learn, and was designed so that everyone – even non-programmers – can do it. No fancy programs are needed, just Notepad and a web browser!
LADIES AND TEENS LEARNING CODE: Virtual Reality with A-Frame (Chatham)
October 22nd at 4pm
Learners will leave with a better understanding of A-Frame, including the many possibilities provided through the A-Frame Registry. We’ll practice using the built-in visual 3D inspector to test and use components from the Registry, so learners can continue to develop their projects from home. DETAILS.
Tech Talent Day will look at building, growing and connecting our tech talent pipeline including highlighting local tech employees and employers.
Teens Learning Code: Virtual Reality with A-Frame

WEtech Alliance has partnered with Canada Learning Code’s Code Mobile to deliver a special Teens Learning Code Session. We’ll review how to use A-Frame’s asset management system, and add animation and interactivity into our projects. At the end of this workshop, learners will also have the opportunity to use Google Cardboard to explore each other’s A-Frame scenes in 3D! Learners will leave with a better understanding of A-Frame, including the many possibilities provided through the A-Frame Registry.
Land the Job: Tips for the Perfect interview, Co-op and First Impression

Land the Job is for students & recent graduates from the University of Windsor and St. Clair College who are preparing to enter the tech job market. The panel of tech employers and young professionals will share their tips & insights on: Succeeding at the interview, Making the right impression – in person and online and Maximizing the co-op experience.

Ladies Ladies Learning Code: Generative Art Making with Processing for St. Clair College Students

WEtech Alliance and Zekelman School of Business and IT has partnered with The Code Mobile to offer a hands-on & interactive workshop to equip St. Clair College students with the skills of the future. They are offering a Generative Art Making with Processing. This workshop will focus on teaching the fundamentals of computer programming in a visual context, and highlight how simple mathematical equations can create beautiful and engaging outcomes.
Tech Mobility Day: YQG Mobility Afternoon

We’ll be honouring all of our Tech Award winners with a unique, Windsor-made Tech Award created with the help of our #YQG tech friends, DERKZ and Parker DKI. Close to 200 people will attend, comprising tech entrepreneurs, CEOs and tech start-ups, plus corporate advisors, investors, tech advisors and media.
This year’s award will piggyback on the 4th Annual Nerd Olympics “Nerd Cup” Ceremony powered by Code Ninjas and the official closing of Tech Week YQG 2019 at Imagine Cinemas Lakeshore.
Following the Tech Awards, guests and community are welcome to sit back and enjoy a TECH movie favorite. Concessions (popcorn + drink) are included in your ticket price and can be redeemed during Tech Movie portion of the program. To coincide with its 35th anniversary, our Tech Movie will be “Ghostbusters”. Come dressed up in your favorite Ghostbusters costume for your chance to win cool tech prizes.
