A conference highlighting the contributions of members of the LGBTQ+ community to STEM. It is our pleasure to invite you to the LGBTQ+ in STEM Conference. This event, one of the first of its kind in Canada, will be held in Windsor, Ontario from Friday, October 4 to Saturday, October 5, 2019. Our aim is to bring together researchers in all fields of STEM to highlight and celebrate the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community. We hope to provide an important opportunity to discuss a broad range of scientific topics as well as issues pertaining to Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, and to create new opportunities for collaboration.

LADIES LEARNING CODE: HTML & CSS for Beginners (Chatham-Kent)

If you are looking to get your feet wet when it comes to programming, then this is the workshop for you. HTML and CSS are the backbone of all websites, and knowledge of them is a necessity if you are interested in things like web development, creating marketing emails, or even blogging! The web without HTML and CSS would be would be a world without colourful, pretty websites, not to mention the web applications we all use daily. It’s easy to learn, and was designed so that everyone – even non-programmers – can do it. No fancy programs are needed, just Notepad and a web browser!
LADIES LEARNING CODE: Virtual Reality with A-Frame (Chatham-Kent)

Learners will leave with a better understanding of A-Frame, including the many possibilities provided through the A-Frame Registry. We’ll practice using the built-in visual 3D inspector to test and use components from the Registry, so learners can continue to develop their projects from home.
TEENS LEARNING CODE: Virtual Reality with A-Frame

WEtech Alliance has partnered with Canada Learning Code’s Code Mobile to deliver a special Teens Learning Code Session. We’ll review how to use A-Frame’s asset management system, and add animation and interactivity into our projects. At the end of this workshop, learners will also have the opportunity to use Google Cardboard to explore each other’s A-Frame scenes in 3D! Learners will leave with a better understanding of A-Frame, including the many possibilities provided through the A-Frame Registry. On September 21, Canada Learning Code is empowering adults in Canada to create experiences that users everywhere can enjoy. In a collaborative environment, participants will learn the difference between User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) and how they work together.

2019 Tech Awards + Tech Movie
The YQG Tech Awards are a fun, informal way of recognizing technology innovators of all stages for their achievement and success in our community. There’s no dress code and no speeches to give. We’ll be honouring all of our Tech Award winners with a unique, Windsor-made Tech Award created with the help of our #YQG tech friends.The YQG Tech Awards provide a fantastic opportunity to showcase the impactful leaders in the local tech sector and to strengthen networks within the tech community. Close to 150 people will attend, comprising tech entrepreneurs, CEOs and tech start-ups, plus corporate advisors, investors, tech consultants and media.
This year’s award will piggyback on the 4th Annual Nerd Olympics “Nerd Cup” Ceremony and will be followed by a special STEM Movie at Lakeshore Cinemas.
