WEtech Alliance is pleased to announce Cohort 5 of our award-winning ScaleUP Tech Accelerator program. These 6 companies will receive four-months of intensive business mentoring + in-kind services valued at $15,000 + access to a global network of support + access to $500,000 in discounts and tech perks + 3 months of complimentary hot desk space at SOAR Innovation + the opportunity to pitch for a $20,000 top prize in front of the Windsor Essex Capital Angel Network (WECAN) and members of the Regional Alliance of Windsor-Essex in November 2021.
The Scale(Back)UP program will assist regional tech and tech-enabled companies in scaling new lines of revenue, strengthening the state of their sales, management, marketing, and Intellectual Property processes and strategies, as well as provide introductions to a roster of truly global mentors and industry partners.
“The competition this year to secure a spot was fierce,” said Adam Castle, Director of Venture Services at WEtech Alliance. “On every application received we were introduced or reconnected to another entrepreneur with excellent ideas and a track record for execution. Most years we limit intake to five, but this year we added a sixth space specifically because the quality of applicants was so high. Our team is so excited to dive in and get to work with this year’s cohort!”
ScaleUP has supported 19 companies to date with impressive results.
New this year, WEtech Alliance has teamed up with regional Economic Development partners at Invest WindsorEssex, with the support of the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) to create more of an opportunity for local businesses in the Automobility space.
“Our region continues to move forward on the diversification of our economy.” said Stephen MacKenzie, President and CEO at Invest WindsorEssex. “Seeing a cohort like this, with such a wide variety of established businesses who are undertaking the steps necessary to future-proof and diversify from within, is very exciting. Not only that, but a great example of the broader work being done in our region to help transition and evolve our local economy and industries.”
Lori Atkinson, Libro Credit Union, Regional Manager for Windsor-Essex, and a founding supporter of the ScaleUP Tech Accelerator, has seen tremendous impact come out of the program since its inception. “When you start to look at the multiplier effect this program has had in 4 years, having created 150+ jobs and nearly 20 million in revenue, it’s easy to see why we continue to invest in this world-class program.”
Without further adieu, meet the 2021 Scale(Back)UP Cohort:
