This week we’re excited to welcome Nicette Scott to the team as our new Co-op Student!
Nicette is a Grade 12 student at St. Joseph’s High School. She is completing a co-op placement at WEtech Alliance where she will gain exposure to the tech community. Nicette works with youth as a camp counselor and volunteer group leader, and she tutors other students. She plays several instruments and volunteers as a harpist at non-profit events. Nicette plans to pursue post secondary education and a career in STEM.
We asked Nicette a few questions to get her started. Here’s what she had to say.
What do you hope to gain from this Co-op?
I hope to learn about up and coming development in technology. I am hopeful this placement broadens my horizons in terms of choosing a field of study and a future career. As well as help me to build my network of people who work in Science and Technology.
What advice would you give to other high school students looking to get into STEM?
The future certainly seems bright for anyone considering pursuing a career in STEM. So many of the changes we see in our world are due to technological advances and it seems there is no limit to what a person can accomplish if they’re willing learn and work hard.
Help Nicette on her adventure!
Nicette will be traveling Windsor-Essex this Fall/Winter in hopes of gaining valuable insight into STEM career paths while documenting her experience and lessons in her blog “Tech Connect with Nicette”.
